One of the biggest reasons employees will leave your medical practice is the lack of communication between management and everybody else. As a medical practice administrator, you may think that you’re communicating effectively and that your message is being received as intended, but oftentimes this is not the case. Heck, sometimes the leadership team may not even fully understand what’s going on. If this is the case, how can we expect the message to trickle down?
One suggestion to improve communication at your medical practice is to focus on getting your leadership team on the same page first. Consider hosting an annual, offsite facilitated retreat, where you can get everybody on the same page and pointed in the same direction. Being offsite allows participants the opportunity to unplug and unleash their creativity. In additional to providing the environment for bonding amongst your key stakeholders, the discussion from a facilitated session will help you get everybody on the same page. Oftentimes your leadership team will come back to work with a renewed focus. It’s this fresh focus and energy that will then trickle down to your employees.
